SOCIAL CONDITIONING

Social conditioning begins when we are small children and goes on in our entire life. We are all conditioned, perhaps most of us don’t even realise our conditioning? We are conditioned by society, by our parents, school, work, religion, the media, friends, the list goes on. Rather than being encouraged to find out things for ourselves and experience life, most of us are taught from childhood how to think, what we should do, and to listen to what we are told. What we believe is what we create.

These messages get programmed into our heads at a very young age and thus steeps into our subconscious mind. So a lot of things you heard from a very young age, you believe to be true. The subconscious mind remembers everything, it accepts this information and then processes it. Furthermore, It also stores emotions in the body.

We can choose to change our beliefs about ourselves, rather than let someone else define us or dictate to us. We can choose to stand in our own power. We CAN Say NO to things that don’t make our heart sing, and say YES to what puts fire in your belly, because while we may have been conditioned, the choice is always ours to make a change. I speak my own truth but also welcome other peoples truth without judgement.

As Buddha Said:

“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.”

~ Buddha (563 – 483 BC)
